Description
Old RiverWharf in Matagorda is my most recent oil painting on a 11 x 14 inch gallery wrap canvas. The edges are painted and the painting is ready to hang without a frame.
The work required detailing of the water reflections and the old wharf. The white egret was a bit easier to paint. The wharf or old dock, was located on the Colorada River in Matagorda, TX about one mile from the Gulf of Mexico. It was replaced with a bulkhead and a side walk trail along the river. I was fortunate to get a picture taken before it was demolished to make the improvements. There is a camping park there and lots of sea birds and it is a great place to fish.
We camped (in our rv) there for several days and took long walks and lots of pictures. Many of my paintings came from Matagorda of pelicans, egrets, shrimp boats, and the beach. Matagorda is also one of my favorite places in Texas.
