Pelican Sunrise at the Outer Banks is an oil painting I did as a study for future larger painting of the scene. It is painted in oils on a 10 x 8 inch canvas hardboard which is .25 inch thick. I added the pelican and clouds using my photo I previously uploaded of the sunrise. The composition captures the moment of sunrise over the ocean that produces the rich colors in the painting. I plan to paint similar work on larger canvases as this study painting went well.

I am a painter and love the processes and the creation of a painting. As a child growing up I had a natural tendency to draw and build things. I spent most of my working life in the technical field, but the yearning to fulfill my desire to draw and paint was strong, and I found my real passion was to paint.
