Artist's Description
We were doing an A/C show in the Bauer Center in Port Lavaca, Texas and I got up early to shoot photos of the bay. It worked out great as it happened to be the opening day of oystering season and the boats were already dredging. I took a lot pictures, then went back to the RV to eat breakfast before the show opened at 9 am. It was one of those days an artist loves and remembers. Beautiful scenery and an art show.

About Jimmie Bartlett
I am a painter and love the processes and the creation of a painting. As a child growing up I had a natural tendency to draw and build things. I spent most of my working life in the technical field, but the yearning to fulfill my desire to draw and paint was strong, and I found my real passion was to paint. With the gracious support of my wife Carolyn, painting full time became a reality. For me, painting is a gift from God, and the ultimate release of creativity. I paint subjects that catch my eye or from my imagination and don't specialize in any particular area of painting; but, want to make every one of my works special. I enjoy all of it: from taking photographs one day and on to painting landscapes or portraits the next day. ...

Gregory, your comment and vote is much appreciated. The breaking sun was beautiful on the bay. Being there, taking my own reference photos really helps when I paint the scene.
