The Knockout Rose is a still life I set up in the studio and painted. The rose is from our garden and the vase is one we use frequently to enjoy our fresh flowers. This is a paint what you see approach. I like the strong contrast of light and shadow in the composition and the light bending through the amber glass. I enjoyed it, hope you do too.
I am a painter and love the processes and the creation of a painting. As a child growing up I had a natural tendency to draw and build things. I spent most of my working life in the technical field, but the yearning to fulfill my desire to draw and paint was strong, and I found my real passion was to paint. With the gracious support of my wife Carolyn, painting full time became a reality. For me, painting is a gift from God, and the ultimate release of creativity. I paint subjects that catch my eye or from my imagination and don't specialize in any particular area of painting; but, want to make every one of my works special. I enjoy all of it: from taking photographs one day and on to painting landscapes or portraits the next day. ...
